Actress Daisy Ridley has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease.

The Star Wars star revealed in a recent interview with Women’s Health Magazine that she was diagnosed last year with the autoimmune disorder which affects the thyroid.

The 32-year-old has previously been open and discussed her past struggles with endometriosis and polycystic ovaries.

However, Daisy confessed she felt exceptionally fatigued and irritable following the filming of her hit 2023 thriller Magpie.

She admitted that she at first dismissed her symptoms to the role’s intensity – these included weight loss and hand tremors.

The actress told to the publication: “I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly’.”

But ultimately, she discussed the symptoms with her doctor which in turn led to her being diagnosed with Graves’ disease.

The HSE described Graves’ disease as an autoimmune condition. This means the immune system attacks the body by mistake. It damages the thyroid and causes it to become overactive.

Daisy continued to tell Women’s Health Magazine: “We all read the stats about women being undiagnosed or underdiagnosed and sort of coming to terms with saying, ‘I really, actually don’t feel good’.”

The British actress shot to fame with her starring role as Rey in the latest Star Wars trilogy.
