A neighborhood in Albertville, Alabama, experienced a scary Halloween-in-July moment no one was prepared for! Residents reported seeing a lifelike Chucky doll walking around their town, but people had no idea if it was real or if they just saw things.
Adults were driving away screaming when they came across the living Chucky, but thankfully (and hilariously), the doll was just a real-life bored kiddo who found some fun in an old costume.
Little Chucky, from the 1988 horror film “Child’s Play,” was just wandering around
According to Today Parents, 31-year-old Kendra Walden was driving through the neighborhood with two other adults when they came across what looked like Chucky from the horror film.
“I was remodeling a house in the area and me and some of my employees were headed home from that house,” Walden told the publication.
At first, she thought she might have been seeing things…
…but it turned out she wasn’t hallucinating.
“When we got closer to him, we saw that it was real,” Walden said. “It scared the heck out of us.”
It didn’t just scare them a little bit, though. Walden said the whole car of adults was “screaming like little kids.”
And, honestly, we’d do the same. She said it’s good that her brother didn’t see the same scene.
“My brother Zack, who is a Marine, was working on this house the day before,” she said. “His biggest fear in the entire world is Chucky, so he would have died on the spot.”
After driving past the Chucky doll, Walden said they turned around to get another look
Of course, they didn’t expect to see a horror story character, and the group of adults in the car with her wanted to make sure they saw what they thought they saw.
“When we circled back around, (the boy) had his mask off, but quickly popped it back on and crossed the street after we passed,” Walden told Today. “We turned around again and that’s when we got the photos.”
She then uploaded three of the pictures she took to Facebook
“Dear Parents of the little boy in the chucky costume in Pinson,” she captioned the photos. “GET YOUR KID….I almost had a heart attack.”
Unsurprisingly, the social post was shared wide and far. Walden said she posed it “just for fun,” but didn’t expect it to be shared as widely as it has been.
“At first it was private, and then a friend asked to make it public, and after that it’s been crazy,” she said. “I can rarely check my notifications because so many are on the Chucky post. I’ve had so many people reach out about people sharing it and such.”
The social post was shared on July 13 and it’s still getting a lot of attention
At the time of publication, the post has been shared 108,000 times, with 16,000 comments and 53,000 reactions on Facebook
The post eventually reached a mom who said she could tell right away this Chucky was her 5-year-old son.
“The mother of the child eventually commented on our post, and after looking at her photos, we knew it was her son,” Walden shared with Today.
Reading through the comments, it appears the boy was probably trying to entertain himself, and it’s clear his creativity brought a lot of giggles — and scares — to thousands of people.
One person replied, “I would die”
And we don’t blame her.
Another echoed similar sentiments: “I would have had a stroke,” while another said, “That is the image nightmares are made from.”
Perhaps one of the best comments of all came from a woman who claimed, “Nope I’m out. That’s one of those times where you kick a kid for getting too close.”
