The music world is mourning as tragedy has struck the family of legendary rap icon Snoop Dogg.

Sadly, the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper – whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr. – is dealing with the sudden passing of his beloved younger brother, Bing Worthington Jr., at the age of 44.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department in California confirmed the heartbreaking news earlier this week, multiple sources have reported.

Snoop Dogg, 52, took to Instagram to share his grief and pay tribute to his brother’s life through a series of emotional posts, including a video of a tender moment between Snoop Dogg and Bing.

The caption accompanying the post read: “??? u bac with moms (sic),” hinting at Bing’s heavenly reunion with their late mother, Beverly Tate, who passed away in 2021.

Another post features Bing and Snoop’s father posing for a picture together, with a caption that reads: “Until we meet again ☹️?????️.”

A third post showcases a heartwarming snapshot of Bing and Beverly, both smiling, as he holds a cake for her.

Bing’s may have been Snoop’s brother, but he also played a pivotal role in the rapper’s career, transitioning from a member of the rapper’s entourage to a tour manager and eventually becoming an executive producer at the record label named after his brother, per NBC News. Clearly he was dedication to (and had a profound passion for) music.

Prior to his passing, Bing struggled with the profound loss of his mother. Miguel Lopez, a close friend, told NBC News about Bing’s struggle, saying: “It’s been a tough time since his mom passed. He took it very hard. He was very close to her.”

“He had a great heart, and the little things he did were huge things for us, like opening the doors to his family. He’s going to be missed as a friend above all. This label has to carry on in his honor,” Miguel added, explaining that Bing always demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.

Bing is survived by a partner and an adult son.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.
